Fifth in the country to get the certificate
CHENNAI: The Raintree Hotel in Alwarpet has been awarded `Ecotel'
certification by international hospitality consulting firm,
HVS International, in recognition of its
environment-friendly initiatives.
The hotel is the fifth in the country to get the
certificate. It has received a rating of four globes out of
the maximum of five. The globes refer to various aspects of
environment-friendly measures: from energy conservation to
water conservation to solid waste management to employee
environmental education to environment commitment.
Manav Thadani, managing director, HVS International, said
The Raintree had been practising environment-friendly
measures ever since its inauguration in June 2005.
Harinakshi Nair, senior associate with Ecotel certification,
said the hotel had made considerable savings in energy.
"Where other hotels spend 100 units a months on a room, The
